Personal Injury and Wrongful Death
March 2005 CPSC Recalls
March 16, 2005 -- CPSC, American Suzuki Motor Corporation Announce Recall of Suzuki 2004-2005 model year Vinson and 2005 KingQuad ATVs. Approximately 30,000 ATVs are affected by this recall. Water can enter the throttle lever case and freeze, causing the throttle lever to become stuck and fail to automatically return to the idle position when the rider releases the throttle and the ATV will not slow down as the rider expects. The rider could lose control of the ATV and an accident resulting in injury or death could occur.
March 14, 2005 -- CPSC, Polaris Industries Announce Recall of "900 Fusion," "900 RMK" and "900 Switchback" Snowmobiles. Approximately 11,560 snowmobiles are affected by this recall. The snowmobile wiring harness may be routed in a way that could disconnect the engine stop switch and the throttle safety switch connector. If this connector becomes unplugged, the engine stop switch and the throttle safety switches will no longer function. This poses a possible crash hazard.
March 11, 2005 -- CPSC, Applica Consumer Products Inc. Announce Recall of Black & DeckerĀ® Brand ProBlendĀ® Blenders. Approximately 500,000 blenders are affected by this recall. The blades in these blenders can weaken or break during use while making frozen beverages. A broken blade presents a risk of injury if taken into the mouth or swallowed.
March 8, 2005 -- CPSC, Honeywell Sensing and Controls Announce Recall of Thermal Switches. Approximately 113,500 switches, including about 12,200 that were installed in buildings, are affected by this recall. When these switches are used in fire or HVAC dampers and heat detectors, they could fail to operate, causing the damper not to close or causing the heat detector not to alarm if there is a fire.
