Attorney Brendan Flaherty

Brendan FlahertyAttorney Brendan Flaherty was named a 2010 Rising Star by Minnesota Law & Politics. Only 2.5 percent of the state’s lawyers are included on the list, which highlights Minnesota’s best up-and-coming legal talent and has been published annually since 1998. Flaherty is one of only 12 general personal injury plaintiff lawyers on the list.

Brendan Flaherty represents injured people and their families in car accident, foodborne illness, product liability and wrongful death litigation.

Brendan was a member of Pritzker Olsen’s trial team that achieved a 6.45 million dollar settlement in food poisoning litigation. With David Szerlag he also represented those who suffered kidney damage from phospho-soda bowel prep products in MDL litigation that recently resulted in a multimillion-dollar global settlement.

Brendan said the following about representing injured people:

I am committed to making this system work better for injured people.  If insurance companies refuse to pay fair compensation, I believe it is just and reasonable to exercise the right to a jury trial. With each verdict in favor of a person wrongfully injured, the insurance companies will face increasing pressure.

When a client allows me to help them fight insurance companies through the jury system, I am grateful and inspired.  That is what this profession is all about.

Food Safety Lecture at the U of M School of Public Health

In a guest lecture at the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health, Brendan Flaherty addressed the students of a class entitled, “Nutrition for Public Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.”  His presentation centered on the development of food safety regulation and litigation as it relates to raw milk, which is a heavily debated issue. “The intent of the presentation was to give students a sense of the real world conflicts around food,” Flaherty said. “That is, conflicts among scientists, local food advocates, farmers and nutritionists.”
